We might be wishing for warmer weather now that there’s a chill in the air, but we can still look back at our exciting Summer programme.
In partnership with Stoke-on-Trent City Council, The Hubb Foundation successfully coordinated another Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) programme across the city by offering a wide range of physical, creative, and enriching activities.
This summer saw over 889 sessions taking place across 70 venues, with Free gym passes for use at Dimensions Leisure Centre and Wallace Sport and Education Centre being a favourite holiday activity for young people aged between 14 -16 years.
A Summer Packed with Fun Activities
From gym passes to basketball camps, trampolining, swimming, and multisport events, the HAF programme ensured that young people in the area stayed active and engaged throughout the summer holidays. Some of the most popular activities included:
- Bee Active Sports Leader Course
- Jump 2 it, Trampolining
- Hanley Hustlers Basketball Camp
- Beginners Intensive Swim Lessons
- Coaching Quarters Multisports
- Gymnastics Summer Camp
Buzzing with Opportunity
Delivering a dynamic Sports Leaders course, Bee Active provided four days during the summer holidays of action-packed activities enabling young people to fulfil the necessary modules to achieve a Sports Leaders UK Level 1 Award.
By the end of the programme, participants not only gained a recognised coaching qualification, but also built confidence and leadership skills.
This collaboration between Bee Active and The Hubb Foundation has made a lasting impact by equipping local young people with the tools to lead engaging physical activities and pursue future roles in sports and community leadership.

From Court to Community
Running throughout the six-week holiday period, Hanley Hustlers Basketball Club brought the excitement of basketball to the local community with their free Basketball HAF camps at New Horizons Leisure Centre.
Each camp lasting four hours provided an excellent opportunity for boys and girls, regardless of skill level, to get active, make new friends, and enjoy some competitive fun on the court.
These sessions were designed to engage children of all abilities – whether they were complete beginners or more experienced players and not just to improve on-court skills – the activities kept the children physically active while also building mental well-being. With a free meal for every participant though the HAF programme, the teams were kept well-nourished throughout each camp.
Game On…
Coaching Quarters took part in the HAF Programme, offering a fun experience for children aged 4 to 11 years.
The programme provided a variety of activities, from arts and crafts to multi-sport sessions like football and basketball, with the goal to keep every child active and engaged.
It wasn’t just about having fun, with nutritious meals provided by the programme ensured the children stayed fuelled and healthy during the sessions. The safe and welcoming environment, combined with memorable activities, made the Coaching Quarters a highlight of the holidays for many youngsters.

“The partnership teams have pulled out the stops to create over 980 sessions and 30,000 opportunities in our city to offer provision to children and families. There are so many different types of activities available right across Stoke-on-Trent which have been created by utilising a number of schools, community groups, partners and leisure services to make it the best summer ever.” Adam Yates, Chief Operating Officer – The Hubb Foundation |
