A RECORD number of free Easter holiday sessions to spark the ambitions and creativity of young people across Stoke-on-Trent have been launched by The Hubb Foundation.
Activities for teenagers include Introductions to Plumbing, Joinery and Electrics courses and an innovative podcasting course along with fun sport and dance classes as part of the record-breaking 10,500 free HAF (Healthy Activity and Food) opportunities at venues across the city.
The programme, delivered in partnership with Stoke-on-Trent City Council, will see more than 300 events hosted at schools and community venues between March 30th and April 10th for the city’s 17,500 schoolchildren between Reception and Year 11 who are eligible for free school meals.
For teenagers, highlights of the programme include two-day practical skills courses in Plumbing, Joinery and Electrics at Joiners Square run by The Spark Group and a new four-day podcast production course run by community coaching organisation Spark To Your Success in Newstead.
For primary school children activities include new dance and drama workshops at Fenton Town Hall with community arts group Restoke, citywide sport activity sessions with Stoke City Foundation, including new venues at Kix FC and Northwood Stadium, and with Port Vale Foundation at Vale Park.
Chair of The Hubb Foundation Jane Sawyers said: “We passionately believe that every young person in our city is entitled to a happy, healthy childhood and this includes having opportunities that really enrich their school holidays.
“For teenagers we are working with different organisations to provide activities that will really help to raise young people’s aspirations and even give them a springboard to new career pathways.
“Children from disadvantaged families are far less likely to access organised out-of-school activities and more likely to experience ‘unhealthy holidays’ in terms of nutrition, physical health and social isolation. The HAF programme bridges that gap and makes a real difference to thousands of families across the city.”
Cabinet member for children’s services at Stoke-on-Trent City Council, Councillor Sarah Jane Colclough, said: “It is important that every child in Stoke-on-Trent have opportunities to have fun and eat healthily over the Easter holidays.
“There is a wide range of activities that every child can enjoy for free and these experiences ensure children can thrive and receive the support they deserve. I encourage all parents who are eligible to check out what’s on.”
Bookings for all activities are live from Friday, March 13th, 2026 at 4pm. To find out if your child qualifies for the HAF programme, click here.
