Safeguarding

The Hubb Foundation stance is safeguarding children is everyone’s responsibility. Everyone who comes into contact with children and families has a role to play. We support the community and all those directly connected with it – staff members, volunteers, parents, families and children; who have an essential role to play in making it safe and secure.

We will ensure that arrangements are in place to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and will work together with other agencies to identify, assess and support those children who are suffering or likely to suffer harm.

The Hubb Foundation’s is an active member of the Stoke-on-Trent Voluntary Sector Children’s Safeguarding Group

The voluntary and community sector has a vital role in keeping children and young people safe, protecting them from abuse and other forms of harm, and to influence local safeguarding arrangements by informing the development and review of strategies , policies, procedures and training.

The VSCSG also plays a key part in helping local communities to keep their most vulnerable members safe, and helping to ensue that the voice of children and young people is recognised and heard.

We’ve gathered some essential information regarding safeguarding in Stoke-on-Trent, for all of those we work with, and who work with children.

If the child or adult is at immediate risk, call 999

As a parent, carer, relative, neighbour, member of the public or a professional who has contact with children, you may be concerned about the welfare and safety of your own child or a child you know. Keeping children safe is everyone’s business.

These concerns could be about their appearance, behaviour, development or how they are being cared for. If you are worried about the welfare or safety of a child, even your own child, it is very important that you contact Stoke-on-Trent Safeguarding Children Partnership.

Social workers will then follow up every report, talk to other people to get a clearer picture and decide what to do from there. Children are very rarely taken away from home – this only happens when there are real concerns that the child is not safe.

Between 8:30am to 6pm Monday- Friday, you can call the Children’s Advice and Duty Service (CHaD) on 01782 235100 to speak to an experienced social worker about your concerns. Outside of these hours you can contact the Emergency Duty Team on 01782 234234.

If you think the child is at immediate risk call 999.

Please follow our procedure (see below) notifying us directly as soon as the incident occurs by completing our DSL Safeguarding Incident Notification Form
