Raising awareness is essential in continuing to transform young lives across Stoke-on-Trent during the school holidays, when many children already rely on free enrichment activities and nutritious meals provided by The Hubb Foundation.
To maintain this momentum, the Staffordshire Chamber of Commerce has partnered with The Hubb Foundation to promote the Business Champion Programme, encouraging more local businesses to step up and support this vital cause.
The Business Champions Programme: Three Tiers of Support
The Hubb Foundation’s Business Champion programme offers businesses three tiers of involvement, enabling them to make a meaningful impact:
Bronze: A £500 donation provides 100 nutritious meals for children attending Hubb activities, ensuring they have the fuel they need to grow and learn.
Silver: A £2,000 donation supports 100 children, giving them access to a full day of engaging activities, a safe space, and a nutritious meal, making a tangible difference to their health, well-being, and personal development.
Gold: A £6,000 donation profoundly impacts 300 children across Stoke-on-Trent, offering them a full day of fun, enrichment, and support, with meals provided to ensure their well-being.
Why Stoke-on-Trent Needs Your Support Now
This campaign arrives at a critical time for Stoke-on-Trent. The city faces alarming statistics that reflect the extent of deprivation many families experience. According to Stoke-on-Trent City Council:
- Over a third of the city’s population is ranked among the 10% most deprived in England.
- More than half of Stoke-on-Trent’s population lives within the 20% most deprived in the country.
- Over 19,000 children are living in absolute poverty.
- 24.7% of households are struggling with fuel poverty, the highest rate of 296 districts.
- 36.7% of children in the city, or 15,288 kids, are eligible for Free School Meals.
These figures show the gravity of the challenge.
One Million Meals and Counting: The Hubb Foundation’s Milestone
Adam Yates shares his thoughts on the achievement as The Hubb Foundation served up its millionth dish at The Glebe Academy primary school in Fenton, on August 28.
“We are so grateful to all the companies and organisations who have supported us so far as we reach the millionth meal mark. But the fact we have reached this milestone in less than six years only goes to show the size of the problem we face. I believe we have only seen the tip of the iceberg and we need to step up the help we provide for children and families across the city.” “That is why we need businesses of all shapes and sizes to step forward and help us out. This could be in the form of direct funding or through projects and activities that tap into their area of expertise and will benefit communities. Every bit of help will make a difference.” Adam Yates, Chief Operating Officer at The Hubb Foundation |
The Business Champion programme is more than a donation – it’s a commitment to transforming the future of Stoke-on-Trent’s children, providing them with the support, enrichment, and nourishment they desperately need. Every contribution helps, and with the continued support of businesses and individuals, The Hubb Foundation can keep making a difference in the lives of thousands of children.
