Strengthening Communities: The Hubb Foundation’s Commitment to VCSE and Stoke-on-Trent City Council’s Alliance Agreement

At The Hubb Foundation, we are proud to champion the Voluntary, Community, and Social Enterprise (VCSE) sector in Stoke-on-Trent, working in collaboration with Stoke-on-Trent City Council to build stronger, more resilient, and empowered communities.

A key step towards this mission is the Alliance Agreement – a strategic partnership that ensures organisations within the VCSE sector and the local authority can work cohesively to maximise their impact and create sustainable change.

Why an Alliance Agreement Matters

An Alliance Agreement is more than just a document – it is a commitment to collaboration, shared goals, and mutual support between the VCSE sector and Stoke-on-Trent City Council. Both parties bring unique strengths and perspectives to community development, and by working together, we can better tackle challenges, improve local services, and empower residents.

By fostering a culture of collaboration, we aim to:

✔️ Identify shared goals and opportunities to work together on key initiatives.

✔️ Recognise challenges and co-develop effective solutions based on collective expertise.

✔️ Strengthen communities by harnessing local knowledge and untapped assets.

This partnership approach is built on the belief that local communities should be at the heart of decision-making, shaping the services and opportunities that matter most to them.

Key Features of the VCSE Alliance Agreement

The Alliance Agreement sets the foundation for how The Hubb Foundation, alongside Stoke-on-Trent City Council and other VCSE partners, will collaborate to drive meaningful change.

Our partnership is guided by the principles of Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD), ensuring that people, relationships, and community assets remain at the core of our work.

Our Joint Commitments Include:

  • Citizen-Led Approach – Communities themselves are best placed to drive resilience and social change.
  • Relationship-Oriented Work – Strengthening trust and cooperation between all stakeholders.
  • Asset-Based Thinking – Recognising and mobilising existing community strengths and resources.
  • Place-Based Development – Tailoring solutions to meet the specific needs of local areas.
  •  Inclusion-Focused Strategies – Ensuring that all residents, regardless of background, can actively participate in shaping their communities.

By embracing these principles, we create an environment where communities can thrive, working together to solve local challenges and create lasting improvements.

Building Stronger, More Resilient Communities

Through this alliance, we are dedicated to supporting communities to take the lead in shaping their own futures. By mobilising local strengths and assets, we aim to create a self-sustaining cycle of growth, resilience, and empowerment.

The partnership between the VCSE sector and Stoke-on-Trent City Council is built on trust, shared purpose, and a collective commitment to making a difference. Together, we can:

✔️ Strengthen community-driven initiatives.

✔️ Improve access to support and resources.

✔️ Ensure everyone’s voice is heard and valued.

At The Hubb Foundation, we are excited to continue this journey alongside our partners, creating real impact and meaningful change across Stoke-on-Trent.

By working together, we can achieve lasting social change, ensuring that communities in Stoke-on-Trent thrive for generations to come.

We invite community groups, businesses, and individuals to join us in this mission. Together, we can make Stoke-on-Trent a stronger, more connected, and empowered city.
