October of Giving: A Month of Generosity and Community Spirit

Filled with generosity, community spirit, and incredible support from local businesses, organisations, and individuals – October has been a month to remember at The Hubb Foundation.

From charity runs and community events to generous cheque presentations, each gesture of support represents something much bigger, a shared commitment to helping children and families in our city to access safe, enriching, and nourishing opportunities throughout the school holidays.

The Hubb Foundation exists because the need in our city is real and growing. Figures taken from Stoke-on-Trent City Council’s local authority assessment (June 2025) reflect this, with Stoke being one of the most deprived areas in the country, ranking 13th out of 317 (1st being the most deprived). Behind every number is a family doing their best and a child who deserves the same chances as any other.

Since 2022, The Hubb Foundation has coordinated the HAF Programme in Stoke-on-Trent working alongside the city council, helping to ensure that children have access to healthy meals, engaging activities, and supportive spaces during school holidays.

It doesn’t matter how big or small the contribution, every act of kindness makes a difference. Whether it’s a sponsored run, a community event, or a simple donation, each gesture adds up to something powerful. That’s why we want to sing and dance about what’s been happening in our community recently and celebrate the people who continue to make it all possible. We’re delighted to showcase some of the amazing support we’ve received, proof that when our city comes together, real change happens.

Rebus Training – Going the Extra Mile

A huge thank you to Rebus Training Ltd, who raised an amazing £772 by taking on the Potters ‘Arf Marathon! Your dedication and good humour made all the difference.

👟Shaun Eardley – who ran despite being injured, finishing in 1hr 55mins.

🎽Gary Jackson – finishing 4th fastest walker (motivated, by avoiding too much chat!).

💛Anne Edge – who kept everyone smiling and talking all the way around!

Hubb Heroes – Grace & Hettie

We’re also celebrating two amazing champions – Grace Podmore Baker and Hettie Williams, who both also took in the Potters ‘Arf Marathon to raise vital funds for our charity.

Grace, who is also completing her PhD research with The Hubb, raised a phenomenal £1,275, while Hettie inspired 30 supporters to raise an amazing £529.50.

Their commitment, energy, and generosity reflect the values at the heart of The Hubb Foundation, people coming together to create lasting change for children and families across Stoke-on-Trent.

We were delighted to be chosen as one of the charities supported by Harji and the Indian Fusion team during their spectacular Diwali fundraising event.

The evening was full of light, community spirit, and generosity and every penny raised will help us continue supporting children and families across the city.

Thanks to Harji’s passion and the generosity of everyone who attended, the event raised £800.
