Digging Deep for Christmas Cheer

This Christmas JCB employees have once again shown the power of generosity, gathering a record breaking 1,787 gifts as part of the company’s annual Christmas Toy Appeal. The total comfortably surpassed last year’s impressive haul of 1,700 presents, making this the most successful appeal to date.

Launched in November, the appeal quickly gathered momentum, with donations flooding in from 15 collection points across JCB’s UK sites. Employees went above and beyond, contributing a wonderful variety of gifts to help spread festive cheer to children and young people in the community who need it most.

Since the appeal began in 2022, JCB employees have now donated almost 6,000 gifts, creating a legacy of kindness and community spirit year after year.

A Special Delivery

The bulk of the gifts were handed over to The Hubb Foundation to support children and young people in the community facing the greatest needs. Reflecting on the impact of the appeal Tom Beecham, Operations Manager at The Hubb Foundation, said:

“JCB’s Christmas Toy Appeal means so much to us as a charity and it means so much to the children and families we work with in Stoke-on-Trent. Christmas is a challenging time of year, so to bring some happiness and positivity to children at this time of year is wonderful. We can’t thank JCB and all the employees enough for their ongoing generosity.”

A first batch of gifts were delivered to excited pupils at New Ford Academy by JCB apprentices alongside Olympic silver medallist Adam Burgess, marking the fourth year of the appeal and the third year Adam has been involved. From wrapping presents to loading them ready for delivery and handing gifts directly to children, the visit captured the true spirit of the appeal. Adam shared through his social media:

“Always a privilege to be part of JCB’s Christmas Toy Appeal ❤️ 🎁 🎄 Stepped away from the river for the morning yesterday to help wrap and distribute the first batch of gifts to pupils at the New Ford Academy in Smallthorne.”

The Next Generation Leading the Way

And helping to co-ordinate this year’s appeal were JCB apprentices Kitty Hulme (20) from Newcastle-under-Lyme, Lewis Durham (20) from Derby, Lucy Pepper (23) from Stoke-on-Trent and Will Jenkins (20) from Stone. Their involvement highlights the pride, teamwork and sense of responsibility already being shown by young people building their careers at JCB, playing a hands on role in making a meaningful difference beyond the workplace.
